Land of Nipigon Fishes
Jumbo Perch
Another of the warmer water loving species, Perch are common throughout our lakes and rivers with the larger “Jumbo” varieties being highly sought after as game fish.
With individual fish weighing in at 1 to 2 pounds and 10-14 inches in length Jumbo Perch can be found in schools making for some exciting fishing action when you come across a school.
Preferring cover and weed beds, Perch are commonly found amongst Northern Pike, Walleye and Smallmouth Bass as they all share similar environments.

Lifespan: 10 Years
Habitat: Inland lakes, rivers, streams. weed beds and cover. Perch prefer warmer, shallower bays on Lake Superior.
Spawning: Spring (May)
Spawn Habitat: Shallow and low current areas in rivers.
Foods: Surface insects, nymphs, aquatic insects, other smaller fish,
World Record: 4 lbs 3 oz. (1985)
